What is all about;
It’s time to put a 🚫 STOP to the indecent exposure of 👫 people and 🌍 planet to 🏭 pollution and ️☮️ violence!
A celebration-protest for 🚲 Cycling 🌳 Environment 👣 Body Freedom.
The World Naked Bike Ride (WNBR) is a protest-celebration of Cycling, Environment, Body Freedom. An international peaceful movement involving more than 70 cities around the world, to promote: the bicycle as a means of transportation and mild mobility, against car culture and the pollution it generates. For our independence on oil, lignite and non-renewable energy sources. For ecology, environment, human and non-human animals. For peace & non-violence, freedom of expression and de-incrimination of our natural naked body.
The world’s first Naked Bike Ride took place in 2001 at the cycling critical mass in Zaragoza, Spain, where they decided to get out of their clothes because no one was paying attention to them. After its sweeping success it was established and in 2004 with an initiative from Vancouver, Canada it spread around the world.
In Greece it was organized for the first time in Thessaloniki in 2008 with the participation of one hundred people. Since then it has been held every year and has brought up to 2,000 cyclists to participate.
Why NAKED;
To free ourselves from the body standards promoted by the media, film, fashion, and sex industries. We are all beautiful, all different, all equal! In today’s voyeuristic society, the naked body is exploited. We liberate it with a powerful, attention-grabbing action, sending messages non-violently.
Only NAKED;
Come as naked as you dare! As mother nature gave birth to you, with body-painting, natural decoration, swimwear, masks, wigs, accessories, a lot of fun and imagination. Feel free!
WHEN and WHERE;
The World Naked Bike Race takes place every June in Thessaloniki. To find out when and where, see info above and subscribe to our Newsletter, where you can also find out about other scheduled events, screenings as well as all our news.
